POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMMING AND ALGORITHM
DEVELOPMENT

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position at the
Structural Biology Unit of the EMBL in Hamburg, Germany, in scientific
programming and algorithm development for image processing. The
successful applicant will work within the Victor Lamzin’s group on the
XREC software project (www.embl-hamburg.de/XREC) in a stimulating
international environment. The research will involve development and
programming of software modules for 2-dimensional image interpretation
and image time-series analysis.

The candidate should hold a PhD and have a sound scientific record in
the field. Programming experience (C, C++ or FORTRAN) is essential.
Familiarity with some of the areas (X-ray crystallography, statistical
pattern recognition or informatics) would be an advantage. Good
communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are required.

Closing date: 24 June 2007
