We used to use another glass cover slip and make a sandwich with the drop and rub together. Recovery is a bit messy though.

Most probably you might have micro seeds stock in your present well.
A streak with cat whisker/something like that in your old well and immedietly a streak in your new well might work miracles sometimes.
