MRC LABORATORY OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY, CAMBRIDGE

TWO POSTDOCTORAL /RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITIONS

Two posts, funded by the Wellcome Trust until October, 2011, are
available in Murray Stewart's Structural Cell Biology Group. One post
will concentrate on the expression, purification, and characterization
of proteins and complexes involved in nuclear trafficking and mitosis,
whereas the other will concentrate on their structure and function. The
interdisciplinary nature of these projects will require the integration
of structural, cellular, molecular and biochemical methods. Recent work
from this research group includes: Nature, 432:872, Nature, 435:693,
Nature Rev. Mol. Cell Biol. 8:195, and Mol. Cell, 33:727.

Please visit: http://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/SS/Stewart_M/group for
further information.

Postdocs (Research Associates) should have a PhD in a Biological area or
equivalent experience, a strong publication record, and extensive
experience in Molecular Biology, the bacterial expression, purification,
and characterization of proteins, or in macromolecular crystallography.
Experience in a relevant area of Cell Biology would be an advantage.
Research Assistants should have a degree plus extensive experience in
Molecular Biology, bacterial expression purification and
characterization of proteins. A higher degree or experience in cell or
structural biology would be an advantage. Informal enquiries to Dr
Stewart (email: ms@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk) are welcome.

The starting salary will be in the range of 19,624 to 31,358 pounds per
annum (depending on qualifications and experience) supported by a
flexible pay and reward scheme and optional final salary pension scheme.
We can offer 30 days annual holiday entitlement plus public holidays and
excellent sports and social facilities are available on site.

To apply, please send a cover letter, a full CV with publication list,
and the contact details of two professional referees who can be
approached prior to interview. In your cover letter please outline your
career goals and state how you would be able to contribute to the
group's research effort.

Please email your application to recruitment@ssc.mrc.ac.uk, quoting job
reference LMB09/513 for the Postdoc position and LMB09/514 for the
Research Assistant position.

Closing Date: 22 October 2009.
