CCP4bb navigationCCP4bb <-- 1999 <-- November 1999 <-- 30 November 1999Subject: Postdoctoral Position Studying Genome Organization at UCSF From: JJ Miranda Miranda {- at -} CMP {- dot -} UCSF {- dot -} EDU Date: 2007-03-15 Postdoctoral research positions are available to study the structural biology of genome organization with JJ Miranda at the University of California, San Francisco. We hope to understand how chromatin is organized in a cell and how this structural architecture is coupled to the functional regulation of gene expression. Our primary focus is gene insulation, the phenomenon by which promoters in a given locus are shielded from the effects of all regulatory sequences in a cell except for those within the locus itself, thus resulting in an autonomously functioning genetic element. We attempt to combine structural methods (EM, x-ray, mass spec) with functional experiments (cell-based screens and assays) to develop macromolecular movies of how chromatin controls transcriptional organization. UCSF offers a unique environment in which to engage such interdisciplinary research. And the weather is nice. Visit our web site for more information: http://mirandalab.ucsf.edu. Candidates from all scientific backgrounds are welcome to apply by sending a CV and names of references to JJ Miranda (miranda@cmp.ucsf.edu).
