CCP4bb navigationCCP4bb <-- 2007 <-- November 2007 <-- 02 November 2007Subject: Two post doc positions in Tromsų? From: Elin Moe elin {- dot -} moe {- at -} CHEM {- dot -} UIT {- dot -} NO Date: 2007-11-02 NorStruct is a national laboratory for three dimensional structural analyses of macromolecules, and offers service, competence and facilities to the entire molecular biology community in Norway (http://uit.no/norstruct Post doc I (three years) should be a protein crystallographer with some experience in molecular biology (cloning, expression and protein purification) and experience or interest in learning SAXS. Post doc II (two years) should be a molecular biologist with experience and interest in protein-DNA and protein-protein interaction analysis using enzyme assays, gel-analysis and biophysical techniques as SPR and ITC. Some experience in structural biology will be considered as an advantage. The post docs will work on the project "Protein-protein interactions at atomic levels" which is funded by the Norwegian research council. The project aims at revealing new information about molecular mechanisms of DNA repair by analysing interactions and determining crystal structures of protein complexes involved in DNA repair. Targets are selected from the genomes of the extremophiles Deinococcus radiodurans and Vibrio salmonicida and recombinant proteins will be produced in quantities necessary for interaction studies and protein crystallisation experiments. The project will be performed in collaboration with the Macromolecular crystallography group at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France and the Molecular biology research group at the Department of cancer research and molecular medicine at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The post docs will work mainly in Tromsų but may also spend some time at the ESRF in Grenoble. The post docs will work within a core team which will consist of one scientist (molecular and structural biologist) and two PhD students, and have access to state-of-the art in house molecular and structural biology facilities. The project will start in January 2008. Candidates should apply by sending a CV, list of publications and the names and affiliations of two references. State also the category of position the application is intended for. The CV should include fields of interests and details about particular experience in any of the relevant techniques mentioned above. Applications should be sent to Dr. Elin Moe, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Tromsų, Norway, by E-mail: elinm@chem.uit.no before November 15 2007.
