Dear All,

We are pleased to announce the release of the Phaser 2.1.1 module as an
update to the CCP4 6.0.2 public release. This replaces Phaser 1.3.3
which was part of the original 6.0.2 release.

Phaser 2.1.1 includes SAD Phasing and Combined MR and SAD Phasing. For
full details, see the included documentation or the Phaser home page
http://www-structmed.cimr.cam.ac.uk/phaser/ Phaser is kindly provided
by Randy Read's group at the University of Cambridge.

The updated Phaser module is available through the automated Downloads
page:

http://www.ccp4.ac.uk/download/downloadman.php

and from the Daresbury ftp server. The module can be taken as a module
of a fresh CCP4 6.0.2 installation, or it can be added to an existing
6.0.2 installation. In particular, the automated script install.sh will
check for an existing CCP4 installation, and give you the option of
installing Phaser there. On windows platform you are provided with a
Cumulative-update-3.exe file that should apply the update and
known fixes; this can be installed on a fresh ccp4 installation as well
as on a ccp4 installation on which you performed earlier updates.

In ccp4i, there is an updated phaser_MR task, as well as a new phaser_EP
task. If you updating an existing CCP4 installation, then the ccp4i
interface should be updated automatically.

The separate release of the Phaser module is part of a general move
towards a more modular system for the CCP4 suite.

The Linux installer now also contains Phaser (as a part of the main
CCP4 in the choice).

Enjoy!
Martyn
