Postdoctoral position in X-ray crystallography of functional complexes of
ribosomes available beginning in Fall 2008. This project is aimed at
solving the structures of ribosomes trapped in intermediate states of the
translational cycle, containing translation mRNA, tRNAs, translation
factors, etc. At the same time, we are working to improve the resolution
of ribosome crystals (presently at 3.2A). This is a demanding and
challenging project for a recent Ph.D. with a strong background in
macromolecular crystallography. Supported by grants from the NIH, NSF.
Excellent research environment with 4 structural biology groups, 8 RNA
groups, within close driving distance of ALS and SSRL.
