Alfredo,

It's not clear from your email what your purpose is: to illuminate a
crystal/sample on a microscope stage or on a goniostat. In either
case, you might check out Ocean Optics (http://
www.oceanoptics.com/). They have based their systems on fiber optic
light sources and CCD detection. One point in their favor is that
they are relatively cheap and portable. The company was started by
people who needed small and portable spectrophotometers/monitors for
oceanographic field research. We use their spectrophotometers in our
teaching labs as their footprint (light source and detector) is now
smaller than a small laptop, but they have about a 10-20 millisecond
readout across 220-800 nm.
