Thank you all for your helpful contributions. Here is a sumary of the sugestions offered.
1)Not very critical, but could consider a nucleic acid to have about twice the size of a typical aminiacid.
2)Just an estimate is needed. Could simply calculate 3 residues per base or 6 per base pair.
amino acid: 110 kD
nucleotide: 330 kD
base pair: 660 kD
3)Could use CONTENTS instead of NRESIDUE.

I used the second sugestion and everything seems fine sofar.
