Two NIH funded post doc positions available in North Chicago, IL USA

Motivated and creative postdoctoral applicants are sought by the Correll
laboratory to study how site-specific chaperones and their assemblies
mediate ribosome biogenesis. The studies will exploit our in vitro assays
that mimic a key early step in biogenesis of the small ribosomal subunit:
proper docking of the U3 snoRNA with its associated protein onto the
pre-rRNA. The research will employ a variety of biophysical and structural
techniques to investigate the molecular and structural basis of (1) how
these chaperones and their assemblies ensure proper U3-pre-rRNA docking, and
(2) once docked, how the target site is selected for the subsequent cleavage
events that initiate small subunit biogenesis.

Rosalind Franklin University has outstanding in-house X-ray facilities,
including a staff researcher and crystallization robot. We have guaranteed
beam time at the nearby third generation synchrotron at Argonne National
Laboratories. This University is situated in a suburban location only an
hour North of the excitement of the music, art, theater, food and sports of
the city of Chicago. Rosalind Franklin University is an Equal Opportunity
Employer.
