Your task will be the determination of high-resolution, three-dimensional structures of macromolecular drug targets (typically proteins), including crystallization and structure solution of medically important structures and target-ligand complexes. As a part of an integrated team you will interact with computational chemists and medicinal chemists to design new scaffolds and to improve lead compounds. The ideal candidate will have an M.S. degree and 10 or more years of work experience or a Ph.D. and 5-7 years of combined postdoctoral and work experience. Degrees in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Molecular Biophysics are acceptable. Strong experience in protein biochemistry and crystallographic methods is necessary and pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus. Strong computational and molecular modeling skills, experience in solution studies (calorimetry, NMR, etc.), experience in structure-based drug design, and/or expertise in complex crystallization problems would be useful. You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in large, multidisciplinary project teams.
